"New Hope For A Century Old Dream"

Maggie Nawyn hasn’t even started high school but already the 15-year-old has started an orchestra, appeared in a music video alongside singer Alex Boyé, and heads an organization that aims to save a century-old building in Brigham City.

The Christensen Academy of Music and Dancing had sat unused for over two decades before Brigham City bought the building in the early 2000’s. They planned to restore it to its previous grandeur but the money for the project ran dry after the exterior work to the two-story building was complete. So when it was rumored the building would be torn down, Nawyn stepped in.

Fire restrictions in place across Southern Utah

Halfway through the month of June and a full week before the official first day of summer, fire officials in Southern Utah are implementing fire restrictions. UPR’s Chris Holmes has the details.

In light of lower-than-normal precipitation this past winter, continued higher-than-normal temperatures and persistent winds, officials from the Color Country Interagency Fire Management Area are implementing fire restrictions within the jurisdiction.

Driver in fatal crash identified

Monday night a little before 11 pm, 32-year-old Jacob Bradley Sorenson, the driver of a blue 2006 Subaru Outback, drove off the road resulting in a rollover accident that took his life.

Sorenson was identified Tuesday morning.

The vehicle was traveling west on 1500 north just before the road merges into 1400 north and crosses 1200 east in Logan. After leaving the road at a curve that turns the road farther south, the vehicle rolled several times and the driver was ejected landing some distance away. Witnesses called 911 immediately after the crash and paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Sierra Club boss in Utah to discuss bigger Canyonlands, clean energy

The Sierra Club, one of the oldest, largest and most influential environmental organizations in the US, has entered Utah politics in a big way. They started a national campaign that supports a proposed Greater Canyonlands. UPR's Jon Kovash reports.
