The federal budget sequester, which was supposed to be a poison pill that would motivate Democrats and Republicans to come up with a compromise, may go into effect on Friday. Thursday we’ll examine possible effects on Utah’s budget and economy.
Our guests will include Senate Budget Chairman, Sen. Lyle Hillyard R-Logan; and BYU Political Science Professor Richard Davis, who says in a recent Deseret News column that while the sequester makes no sense, it is time to cut the deficit. Dan Gross, a columnist for The Daily Beast, said regarding the sequester, GOP states will be disproportionately affected in a negative way. Also on the program is William Shughart, J. Fish Smith Professor in Public Choice at USU and Kevin Sullivan, a retired Air Force Major General.
