Two residents from Escalante, in Southern Utah, were killed Saturday when the single-engine plane they were in flew into power transmission lines.

The crash happened between Escalante and Boulder, near state route 12, milepost 78.

The two men were flying the plane for recreational purposes when they hit the power lines, sending the single engine aircraft to the ground.

The pilot, 56-year-old Paul Clark Bowmar, and the passenger, 59-year-old Nicholas Wilfrom Reznick, both of Escalante, were killed upon impact.

The men's bodies were transported to the state medical examiners office in Salt Lake City.  The crash remains under investigation.
