Share Your Eclipse Experience on AU Tuesday

My photo does the eclipse no justice, but I enjoyed watching this view of the sun on a cardboard box throughout the eclipse. -- jp

Whether you ended up in the designated "sweet spot" with a solar telescope or just happened to see an eclipsed shadow on your front porch, we want to hear about your Utah eclipse experience. Post your photos or just your thoughts on UPR's Facebook page. Amateur solar gazers, writers, photographers are all welcome. It was a special night in Utah and we want to keep the feeling alive.

We'll be talking all about the eclipse on Access Utah Tuesday. UPR's Friend Weller was near ground-zero in Southern Utah and will report on the Ring of Fire excitement. Utah State University Physics Professor Shane Larson will be here to talk astronomy. And we'll have a eclipse-themed holiday commentary from Jennifer Pemberton. We'll take your calls for questions about the heavens or to share your eclipse experience with fellow Utahns. Join us!

For more information about the eclipse, pictures, and the science behind it in addition to our broadcast this morning, you can visit Shane Larson's webpage

When his dad said, “Don’t play with that old radio, you’re going to get shocked,” 10-year-old Friend Weller was certainly looking out for his own best interests. What was at the time an elementary-school-aged hobby soon turned into a life-long career decision. Friend has worked professionally for nearly three decades as a radio announcer and engineer in both commercial and public radio.
Tom Williams worked as a part-time UPR announcer for a few years and joined Utah Public Radio full-time in 1996. He is a proud graduate of Uintah High School in Vernal and Utah State University (B. A. in Liberal Arts and Master of Business Administration.) He grew up in a family that regularly discussed everything from opera to religion to politics. He is interested in just about everything and loves to engage people in conversation, so you could say he has found the perfect job as host “Access Utah.” He and his wife Becky, live in Logan.
