Motorcycle chase in Cedar City ends with two in hospital

Gunfire erupted on Cedar City’s Main Street late Thursday afternoon leading to a string of incidents that started on North Main and ended in the heart of downtown at Main and Center streets.
A Cedar City police officer attempted to make a traffic stop for a motorcycle.  The driver reversed course and fled northbound on Main Street.
The pursuing officer said he then observed that the driver was in possession of a firearm.  The suspect fired the weapon several times at another motorcyclist also traveling northbound.
The victim was struck by multiple rounds and left the roadway and crashed his motorcycle in the parking lot of a business.
The suspect again reversed course, traveling southbound with police in pursuit.
He collided with traffic at the intersection of Main and Center streets bringing the chase to an end.
The 21-year-old shooting victim was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition.  The suspect, 55-year-old James Alan Reynolds is in police custody, being treated for injuries at Valley View Medical Center.
