More than 300 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints marched in the Utah Pride Parade on Sunday, leaving some spectators in tears. Erika Munson, a mother of five from Sandy, started the group, “Mormons Building Bridges,” and organized the group’s participation in the parade as a way to show her support for the LGBT community and to encourage other Mormons to show their support in a public way. On Wednesday’s AU we’ll get several perspectives on “Mormons Building Bridges.” We’ll also talk with the people behind the “It Gets Better” media campaign, which features gay BYU students.
And in the last segment we’ll meet William Dillon, who was exonerated in 2008 after spending 28 years in prison for murder he didn’t commit. He’ll participate in “Jammin’ for Justice” a fundraising concert for the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center, happening on Sunday in Salt Lake City, and featuring exonerated musicians.
