Man attempts fleeing from police on horseback

One hundred years or more ago it would not have been unusual for a suspect to make his escape on horseback, but on Saturday a male suspect attempted to flee police on a stolen horse.

Saturday afternoon a Utah Highway Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle near New Harmony. Inside were two males and three females and the trooper said he could smell marijuana and took one of the females into custody.

A handgun with an altered serial number and other drugs were also found inside the vehicle. At that point, both males fled. One tried to climb on a nearby horse, but was captured. The other male has not been found.

He is described as a hispanic male with black hair, brown eyes and was wearing blue jeans and a teal shirt. The other two suspects were booked into the Washington County Jail.
