Hiker dies of heat stroke visiting geologic formation in Southern Utah

Elisabeth Ann Bervel collapsed during the return trip from "the Wave," a popular and unusual rock feature in a remote area of Kane County. Her husband, Anthony Bervel continued on the trail until he could find a cell phone signal to call for help.

By the time a medical helicopter arrived from Page, Arizona, she was already in cardiac arrest. Medical personnel were unable to revive her.

Bervel is the fourth hiking related death this summer in Kane County. Three of those deaths were along the trail to The Wave. The victims have ranged in age from 27 to 70.
