Bomb scare locks down Ogden school

Ogden School District

A bomb scare forced educators to evacuate and lock down an elementary school in Ogden on Tuesday. Ogden Police Lt. Danielle Croyle says there was no explosion or injuries of any kind after more than 500 students were evacuated from Shadow Valley Elementary at 4911 S. 1500 East at around noon Tuesday.

"The school has been evacuated. All students are accounted for and are safe," said Croyle. "Parents are encouraged to stop by the school or the reunification location to pick up their children. They need to bring ID with them in order to verify status and to have access to the children.”

Croyle says an investigation into the threat is ongoing as police work alongside bomb-sniffing dogs in and around the school.

"The Ogden Police Department and Ogden School District are working with Hill Air Force Base bomb techs and their K-9 resources. We have not been able to locate a device. There were about 500 students who were immediately evacuated once the threat was received. They are all safe and accounted for

Classes were canceled for the rest of the day. Initial reports indicate the bomb threat was found in a letter that was discovered in a restroom inside the school. The incident is one of multiple bomb-related threats reported in Utah this week.
