Anne of Green Gables cast perform fundraising encore for cast member

A Cache Valley theater company is putting on an extra "encore" show to help raise funds for a cast member's family, whose home was destroyed in a house fire last weekend.

Lizzy John, a cast member in a recent Logan-based "Anne of Greene Gables" production didn't expect such generosity from her friends in the Cache Theatre Company after her home was destroyed by a house fire.

Headed in part by Executive Director assistant Marianne Sidwell, the Cache Theatre Company is teaming up with the Logan High School Band Program to raise funds in a relief effort to help Lizzy and her family.

"We found out that Lizzy had lost her home in a fire, and she was one of our cast members, so we felt like we needed to help out one of our own. Just because we'd just closed the show we hadn't returned all the costumes and set pieces and we thought, well, this is our way of contributing," Sidwell said.

The family was renting the home, and lost most of their belongings in the blaze. Sidwell said she and everyone else at the Cache Theatre Company is more than willing to help out.

"She's made friends with all the cast members, and she's brought new people in when we needed them, and she's just a go-getter and really darling. We think she's a doll and we wanted to help her out," Sidwell said.
The encore performance will be 7:30 p.m. on July 15 at the Logan High School theater, located at 162 W. 100 South in Logan. Tickets can be purchased only at the door for 10 dollars, but donations will be accepted.
