| In A Word by Mark Damen
The "In A Word" feature on Utah Public Radio
is a segment commonly heard on Access Utah Thursday mornings at 9:30,
and repeated at 7:30 the same evening. The segment is created and
produced by Mark Damen. A
professor with a shared appointment in the Departments of History and
Theatre Arts, Dr. Damen teaches a wide range of courses including (but
not limited to) the Ancient Near East, pre-modern Western Civilization,
Theatre History, Playwriting, and all levels of Latin and Greek language.
He has three times been named a USU Mortar Board Outstanding Professor.
In 1997-98 he was designated Teacher of the Year for the College of Humanities,
Arts, and Social Sciences and went on to win the Carnegie Foundation's
CASE Teacher of the Year Award for the state of Utah.
Dr. Damen creates the "In A Word" feature to explore the
etymology and linguistic connections of common words in an engaging and
entertaining way. We hope you will join us for In A Word, Thursdays on
Access Utah.
